Meet The St. Jacob’s Team
Every month we will continue interviewing one person from the team that serves St. Jacob’s. Our prayer for this series is that it will allow everyone to get to know us deeper and open the door for conversations.
This month we are featuring our Director of Youth and Family Ministries, Rachel Shelton.
What is your favorite book of the Bible? And why? Malachi! Even though it is a short book, it holds so much hope. It affirms that God loves His people and will fulfill prophecy by foretelling the coming of Jesus. It allows us to remember God’s character and promises. It reminds us of the law by summarizing the Torah and Prophets as a unified story that points to the future hope of the Gospel.
What is something that you enjoy doing? I have recently gotten into running. It is such a good way to relieve stress, be active, and get outside. It has also been fun to set goals and see improvement.
If you could eat one meal every day, what would it be? Sushi! I am a very picky eater but somehow love one of the oddest foods.
Who has been the most influential person in your life? My Aunt Joyce, she was the most compassionate, intentional, and servant-hearted person I have ever known. Growing up I always watched her be a wonderful woman of God and learned a lot from how she carried herself and cared for others. Unfortunately, we lost her in April this past year; so I honor her everyday by carrying her light, love, and purpose to pass on her legacy.
What is your favorite thing about St. Jacob’s? Definitely the people. I love the feeling of walking into the church on Sunday mornings. We all come as we are and understand why we are there to worship. And I love that we all understand the importance of teaching this to the next generation.
