Happy New Year!!

I hope the new year is off to a great start! I would like to take this time to invite your Teen (or soon to be teen) to youth…it’s free…no experience is necessary and the lessons learned and the relationships developed will continue to be with them for a lifetime. SJY is an important ministry of our church – the youth at St. Jacobs are an active part of the congregation…they are involved in worship, CUC, outreach, and they have fun too! I have met with the kids and THEY have planned a lot of fun & exciting fellowship opportunities for the year to help them grow spiritually and make a difference in God’s world! I hope that you will encourage your child’s participation and I look forward to seeing them here!
If your child has not been coming to youth…it’s not too late and I would love for them to join us this Sunday at 4:00 as we begin preparations for Youth Sunday (January 26th). This year the kids are taking ownership and planning the entire service and there is a role for everyone. We have such a talented group of young people here at St. Jacobs and I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Please email or text me if your child will (or won’t) be participating in Youth Sunday. If they are – I will also need their T-Shirt size.
Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help your child. Thanks!

Coffee Hour is this Sunday, January 5, 2014

We will have a Youth Christmas Party this Friday (December 20th). Bring a friend and be ready to have a great time with your friends!! The fun starts at 6:00 and ends at 8:30…See you Friday!!

December double feature
Posted December 18, 2013 By ChristinaOn December 29th we will have a double feature movie night. We will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a showing of a Charlie Brown Christmas. During intermission we will have cookies and hot cocoa. Then we will resume around 7:00 and enjoy It’s a Wonderful Life. Feel free to come in your pajamas and bring some cookies to share.

When St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church on the Wateree was founded, the portion of land the struggling German and Swiss settled was the Western frontier. The South Carolina Synod history speculates that St. Jacob’s was “probably organized in 1760” but the only fact we have as to its early existence is that on November 13, 1787 seven ministers representing about 10 congregations met to form the “Corpus Evangelicum”.
