Invite your first

Posted May 30, 2018 By admin

A study done several years ago of Christians and evangelism found that Christians who attend worship regularly within main line denominational churches seldom invite others to worship with them. Some surveys indicate the average Lutheran Church member invites only 1.2 people to worship in their lifetime.

One of the Core Values of the North American Lutheran Church is to be a mission driven church. Being mission driven means many things. One of these is that we are a church committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of the simplest and most effective ways to do this is to invite friends and neighbors to worship with us.

During the summer months, Pastor David is challenging each church family member to invite at least one person per month to worship with us. It can be someone you have known for a long time, someone you recently met, or perhaps even a stranger who was in line ahead of you at the market. Whoever it is, invite them. But don’t be discouraged if they don’t come, just keep inviting. Invite your one, and share the good news!

GAME ON is scheduled for July 15-19. We invite your kids to grab their megaphones, lace up their cleats, and tune up their instruments. As they fill up the offensive line, sideline, and drum line, your players, cheerleaders, and band members will realize God has given them His ultimate playbook. He wants them to join His team, train hard, celebrate salvation, and encourage one another. Get in the spirit with Game On – Gearing Up for Life’s Big Game!

(2 Peter 1:3) Adults don’t forget we will also be having classes for you too, so Game On.

Noisy offering in June

Posted May 30, 2018 By admin

During the children’s sermon each Sunday in June we will have a noisy offering to repair the roof at the Lutheran church in Boma, Congo. All you need to do is bring plenty of change and throw it in the buckets as the kids come to collect it from you.

VBS

Posted April 30, 2018 By admin

Are you making Summer plans? All of us need time away from our routine to refresh and recharge! It is the same for our faith life! Doing more than the routine can really ignite our spiritual walk with the Lord, especially with the young Christians. Plans for Vacation Bible School at St. Jacob’s will soon be underway.

Please:
1) Pray for the attendees and the leaders,
2) Prayerfully consider serving as part of the VBS team,
3) Mark your calendars for July 15-19 for VBS, and
4) Watch your worship folder for more details.

Up and Going News and Events

A beautiful sunny day greeted the 13 members and 1 guest as they arrived for the March Meeting. Each person brought an item or items that would be found in a Brown Bag Lunch. This group can always put together the absolutely most delicious lunch and we all enjoyed the food and desserts. Helen gave the devotions on how to handle and cope with bad news reports from the media. Business was discussed and the Treasurer’s report was given.

A Special thank you to Up and Going members and guest with organization from Joan for assembling 186 Easter Bags for Hospice Guests. These bags will be delivered to Lutheran Hospice and Baptist Hospice to be delivered to Hospice patients before Easter. Small toiletry items were also delivered to Hospice to be used at their discretion. Up and Going purchased the candies for the bags.

Our next meeting will be on April 12th. Davis is in charge of devotions and our trip to the Bishopville, SC area. Lunch is Dutch Treat at The Schoolhouse BBQ. A tripe to Frye’s Topiary Gardens is also scheduled. We are planning to depart at 9:30AM (tentative time). Gerald will be driving the bus. Anyone that wants to go with us is welcomed to come along.
