Contact Information Needed

Posted October 31, 2018 By admin

In this “electronic age” we need to have up-to-date contact information in order to keep the congregation informed. If your contact information (home phone, cell or email) has changed, please let us know so you won’t miss out on important church news and happenings. We especially need to know if your land line telephone has been removed and you are using only cell phones. You can indicate changes on the friendship register page, use a “Change of Address” form in the pew racks or call the church.

All Saints Sunday

Posted October 31, 2018 By admin

The celebration of All Saints is Sunday, November 4th. During the Prayers of the Church, we will remember those members of St. Jacob’s who have joined the Church Triumphant since last All Saints Day. During the prayers, as each name is read, a candle will be lit in memory of our loved ones. We welcome the opportunity to remember those who have gone before us in faith, and look forward to the day when Christ reunites all of his people in glory.

Up and Going News

Posted October 31, 2018 By admin

The Up and Going made the annual Apple Run on  September 26.  Sandra boarded the bus and gave the devotions reminding us of 9/11 and God’s Love and Care.  Thirteen members including one guest had a delicious meal at the Golden Coral in Hendersonville, NC.  We went to the Lyda Farms and carefully chose apples, cabbage, tomatoes and other goodies.  This is such a pretty place to visit and shop.  We have been visiting Lyda Farms for 20 years.  It sure has grown and developed beautifully.  We made pictures and  enjoyed walking through the displays.  A storm was brewing so we loaded up and headed home.  The bus was filled with laughter and conversation as we traveled home via I-26.  Thankfully, we arrived at St. Jacob’s before the rain. We sincerely appreciate Gerald driving for us and helping load and unload our purchases.

It’s Time to Order Christmas Poinsettias

Posted October 30, 2018 By admin

The Altar Guild will once again be accepting orders for Christmas Poinsettias to be placed in the church for our Christmas services in honor and/or memory of loved ones. This year the cost per poinsettia will be $10.00; checks should be made payable to St. Jacob’s Altar Guild.
If you would like to order a poinsettia, please submit your completed order form AND payment to Brenda or Robin.

The deadline for placing your order is Sunday, November 4, 2018. In order to guarantee delivery of the poinsettias, the altar Guild must place the order for St. Jacob’s on the deadline date. The team asks that you turn your orders in early as NO orders can be accepted after the deadline.

Poinsettias should be removed from the sanctuary following the 7:00 PM Christmas Eve Service. As in the past, each poinsettia will be labeled with the name of the person purchasing the plant. The Altar Guild will discard ALL poinsettias not removed from the sanctuary on Saturday, December 29th.
