4/02/2024, SJLC COUNCIL MEETING BRIEFS

Pastor’s Report:
• March was a very busy month, lots of worship services.
• The Lent series was well received, especially Mark.
• Thanks to all who worked behind the scenes and participated in this Lent/Easter season.
• On line streaming of our worship services is appreciated by our members unable to attend worship. Streaming our worship services give us the ability to Outreach those outside of our church family.
• Pastor David has been invited to be guest preacher at Union Lutheran Church in Salisbury, NC for their 250th Anniversary. Elders will lead worship on that Sunday.
• Pastor David will be out of town for his daughter’s wedding on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Elders will lead worship on that Sunday.
• Pastor David will be on the Congo Mission in July and will not be at church on the 14th and 21st, 2024. Pastor Gary Blobaum will lead worship service on those Sundays.
Report of Ministry Teams:
Safety/Security – Kevin Pharis / Robert Wessinger
• Cameras: SLED personnel will meet with the Safety Team to determine the best locations for cameras and a video monitor.
• A Temple Talk given by the Safety team is scheduled for April 28, 2024.
• Underground wiring plans for the Parking Lot Upgrade need to be reviewed to ensure proper locations for Security Surveillance equipment.
Christian Education – Sherry McTeer
• VBS Dates: Monday, June 24th – Thursday, June 27th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with a meal at 5:45 PM.
• Teachers for music, Youth, Adults and kitchen staff have signed up. Still need staff for crafts, games, and the classes.
• Solid Rock Day Camp will be held June 9-14 at Holy Trinity and St. Peters. Camp is for K–5. Cost is $100 and the church will pay half of the cost for each of our St. Jacob’s campers using the youth fund.
• The Women’s Bible study has 17 women signed up to attend.
Congregational Care – Billy McTeer / David Kibler
• Lay Communion Ministry Team has visited and administered communion to our homebound folks.
• Visit/contact congregational members and families when notified by the Pastor.
• July: Invite a Friend Sunday/Birthday theme. More information will be provided!
Discipleship – Lynn Shealy / Julie Stuck
• Filled and delivered 21 Mercy Bags.
• Thankful to the Lutheran Women and several members of the congregation who have volunteered to assist with this ministry. Other volunteers will pack Mercy Bags when the Lutheran Women cannot.
• Cleaning products will be purchased for We Care in April in addition to the food items.
Property – Chad Lindler / Barry Rice
• Parking Lot Renovation: Danny Shealy is coordinating plans for an encroachment permit to SCDOT.
• The parts for the HVAC unit have been delivered. There is still a hold up on this project as the platform may need to be modified.
• A new water cooler for the fellowship has been purchased and will be installed by Gerald Lindler and Danny Shealy
• Two estimates were obtained for the church sign. The project will proceed ASAP.
Stewardship – Doug Sullivan
• The Finance Team made a recommendation to Council for funding the Parking Lot Upgrade.
• The Finance Team will submit quarterly budget information to be included in the newsletter to show where we are financially – income vs expense.
Worship & Music — Marie Slice
• Marie will get information for purchasing purple paraments.
